Frequently Asked Questions

Client accounts are custodied primarily through Charles Schwab (advisory) and Pershing (brokerage).

Account fees are billed on a quarterly basis in January, April, July, and October. Generally, the fee is debited directly from the account.
Placing our clients’ interests above our own at all times is at the basis of everything we do. As a discretionary portfolio manager, we are held to a fiduciary standard for all of the assets we manage. In addition, our Certified Financial Planner professionals are held to a fiduciary standard when working with clients. We are completely transparent with all of the fees our clients pay and proactively look to provide value based on both the assets we manage directly as well as with the client’s holistic financial plan.
We have the ability to work on our clients’ behalf in an advisory or brokerage capacity. The majority of our client relationships pay for our services with an asset-based fee that represents a percentage of the assets we manage directly on a discretionary basis. We also have the ability to be compensated in a brokerage setting where we are compensated based on transactions in an account. Lastly, we have the ability to bill on an hourly or project basis for clients who are looking for planning advice without asset management.

Our professionals value education and strive to continue learning so our clients can benefit from a broad knowledge base, allowing us to offer our clients sound advice.

As a discretionary asset manager, we build portfolios using low-cost investment vehicles such as individual stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and institutional share class mutual funds. Our portfolio strategies are built from a menu that is monitored on a daily basis and implemented for our clients on an individualized basis according to their goals, risk tolerance, and holistic financial plan. As an asset manager, we are very conscious of the investment expenses and tax implications of investing, so we tie our portfolio strategies closely to the plans we implement. Our highly experienced investment committee meets at least monthly to review client portfolios and, as needed, to make adjustments based on market conditions.
Detailed performance reports are delivered electronically to your secure vault on a quarterly basis.

We have the capability to work with clients of various asset levels starting at 25,000. In our complimentary discovery meeting, we outline the different ways that we can help clients. We also have the ability to charge flat dollar fees for planning.

For clients looking for a full financial plan (subject to a minimum annual fee), we build a plan that factors in all aspects of our client’s financial picture including goal setting, risk analysis, investment recommendations, insurance coverages, tax situation analysis, and estate planning. Our clients have access to a portal with account aggregation capabilities to see their entire financial picture using one login. From there we run detailed analysis that shows whether they are on track to attain their goals. Depending on the size and complexity of the client relationship, the plan can be updated proactively on an ongoing basis in person, on the phone, or through screen sharing.
We believe in proactively contacting our clients in all market environments through a combination of email, phone, and in-person meetings. When you begin a relationship with us, we outline what you can expect based on the complexity and needs of your individual situation.

Working with a reputable independent advisor can help reduce the conflicts of interest in an advisory relationship. As an independent advisor, we are never in a position to push certain investment products, nor are we incentivized to offer specific advisory technologies to our clients. When your advisor has the ability to go into the market place to provide the best possible client solutions, you as a client benefit.

Our unique blend of professionalism and personality helps our clients achieve the goals that are most important to them. We have a dedicated team of professionals that are here for the purpose of making clients’ lives better when it comes to their financial well-being. We value education and talking to other industry thought leaders so clients benefit from sound advice rooted in the fundamentals of financial planning.
